- Feast of Trumpets - September 16, 2023
Dr. David Antion
In the New Testament, the apostle Paul ties the coming of Jesus to the day of the Lord. What does that mean to us? What's it mean to you? It's going to be a day of eternal salvation. The Son of man is coming at an hour that you do not expect, he's coming. We have to be ready spiritually. Jesus says be on your guard. Be on guard that your hearts may not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life. Many people have spent their lives trying to figure out the end of the 6000 year period, the exact day of Christ's return. But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven. Now when that day comes, it'll be the day of the resurrection.

- Philadelphia - September 9, 2023
Dr. David Antion
The Bible is not a book about math, engineering, psychology or science. It's about faith and God's dealing with Israel. I want to show you some areas here that sociologists would understand and you probably would understand in a different way. This is talking about a time when the coming off the Old Testament laws, a man was allowed to have more than one wife. That's the Greek word assesia, translated as dissipation. It means reckless and wild living, not saving or holding back from anything. That reckless living, and they malign you.

- Philadelphia - August 26, 2023
Dr. David Antion
I'm going to continue with what my sermon topic was. Philadelphia means the love of the brethren. Do we tear down the work of God because of the color of someone's skin or their nationality? What do we do? At church school, paddles were all over the place enforcing pain on students. There was no thought about why they were feeling down or why they didn't smile. A false doctrine based on misunderstanding that people shouldn't go to doctors. It was just silly.

- Three Greek Words - August 19, 2023
Dr. David Antion
There are three Greek words that can be translated love. Agape is special love. When the Bible talks about God's love, it's agape. The effective prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much. Don't complain, don't judge. Be devoted to one another , the love of the brethren. Give preference to one another in honor. We pursue the things that make for peace. The only place you can get your salvation here is in the church. Paul says, do not destroy the work of God. I try to present things that give you a little bit more knowledge about God and God's word. This is an example against youthful rebellion.

- A Key to the Understanding of the Book of Revelation - August 12, 2023
Dr. David Antion
The 7th seals has the seven trumpet plagues. But you would be mistaken if you thought that these things are happening in a linear fashion. The goal of prophecy is to cause people to repent, to change, to stop sinning. Turn to God from idols. Serve God, love your fellow man, stop killing. For that to happen, God has to shake things up. God's going to finally open their mind. The veil will come off. He will swallow up death for all time. Jesus meant open your minds and believe this good news. The sign, the Greek word for sign means a distinguishing mark whereby you see something, a token or an indication. In some cases the sign also could mean a miracle.

- Book of Revelation: The Four Horsemen - July 29, 2023
Dr. David Antion
The Four Horsemen of marriage are criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling. The most mysterious of the four horsemen is the first one, the white horse. Some think it's a guide to the end of the age. Horses seemed to take on the spirit or the feelings of their rider in a battle. The horse was an emblem of fleetness fast and consequently of the quickness. In the Old West, horses were so valuable, so important. God is not impressed with the strength of the horse. It comes inborn, it comes from God. These are war horses. There's hardly anything like them. They are so unbelievably powerful and so fearless. Here's what we know about God that God does punish. And he punishes both individuals and groups of people.

- Book of Revelation - July 22, 2023
Dr. David Antion
More people have sung the Book of Revelation than have read it. I'll explain that statement in my sermon during the feast. I might say a corollary to this. More people have read the book than understand it. We'll deal with that. The destruction of Jerusalem was predicted and was promised by the Book of Jeremiah. Most prophecies are conditional. They seem to rely on whether people will hear the prophecy and repent of it. How can someone make a prediction? A prophecy is only a prophecy. It's based on what the other person does. One of the great conditional prophecies was the prophecy of Jonah. When God pronounces to nations and individuals, there are things that are conditional.

- Allness - July 15, 2023
Dr. David Antion
Do we think we know all there is to know about something? Let's say I took a peach and I held a peach in my hand. Now, here's the question do we now know everything about that peach? I'm preparing a sermon about the Book of Revelation during the feast. A number of writers interpreted the Book of Revelation as a futuristic book. They believed that world history would last for 6000 years, followed by a seven span. The millennial reign of the saints would be the final joy and blessings for the world. Do we know it all? Tyconius concluded that the thousand year kingdom began with the first coming of Christ. Augustine believed that people entered the millennial kingdom through the first resurrection. Many, however, found this interpretation helped to make sense of Christ's Christian experience.

- Relationships - July 8, 2023
Dr. David Antion
Relationships are important, but not all relationships are the same importance. Jesus didn't care to have relationships with certain people. If we have to compromise our values in order to be liked and have nice things said about them, that's not a good thing. If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. When you bring it up, you need to do it in a certain way that they will hear you. This is the most effective way to tell someone that their behavior is hurting you. Jesus said to him, I do not say to you up to seven times, but up to 770 times seven, which is a way of saying almost forever. People do not take rebukes easily, and to hit them hard with it makes it very difficult, very difficult. You want to be as gentle and kind to people and not harp on it.

- "The Pursuit of Glory: A Biblical Perspective on God's Call and Human Experience" - June 24, 2023
Dr. David Antion
God's calling for us is to experience glory, as mentioned in the Book of Romans (5:1-2). Through faith in Jesus Christ, we are justified and find peace with God, entering into His grace with hope for His glory. In the New Testament, Jesus displayed a glimpse of the future kingdom, revealing His own glorified state. The Old Testament also uses the word "glory," which has various Hebrew meanings like weight, honor, richness, and burden. Abraham exemplified glory through his abundant wealth, while Joseph's glory came from his high position in Egypt. Conversely, when the Ark of the Covenant was taken, Israel lamented the departure of their glory. Job, despite losing everything, demonstrated that God's glory surpasses material possessions.

- "Lessons from Second Timothy: Navigating Difficult Times and the Last Days" - June 3, 2023
Dr. David Antion
The Book of Second Timothy was written by the apostle Paul to encourage Timothy. Paul wanted to warn Timothy about the future. I want to show you some of the lessons that we can learn along with things we don't want to be. When you're in a marriage, you know what the word compromise means. No one gets all their way all the time. There are people that still can't compromise irreconcilable. If we're going to settle this, we have to be willing to come. The next word is translated in the New American Standard Version as malicious gossip. The Greek word here is diablos. They're like devils. He engages in slander accusations and slandering a person by saying bad things about a person. You can be sued for libel. The next word is translated in the New American Standard without self-control. When you don't have control of yourself, you become powerless. That's step one in the twelve-step program for Alcoholics Anonymous.

- "The Feast of Weeks: Unveiling the Significance of Pentecost" - May 28, 2023 - Dr. David Antion
This is the day of Pentecost. There were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation, ethnic group under heaven. The sound of the wind now changes from audible to visual. They began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit was giving them utterance. The people outside must have been confused. In Acts 14, we hear people talking in their own dialects. They are amazed and perplexed by the mighty deeds of God. What does this mean? Have you ever asked yourself that question? First Christian sermon tells Jews where this is coming. This is what was prophesied by the prophet Joel in the Old Testament. Paul picks that same theme up in the book of Romans. Why did he say those words? Because the Messiah had to be so powerful. Peter: Let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ. When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart. Peter: Repent, change your mind. And each of you be baptized in the name. That day were added 3000 souls.

- "Luke's Mission: Preserving the Teachings of Jesus in the Book of Acts" - May 27, 2023 - Dr. David Antion
Acts of the Apostles was written during the first century between somewhere around 65 and 85 common Era. Thought of the author has always been acknowledged as Luke, the beloved physician. It's a very well written book from a person that is Luke. Don't leave Jerusalem until you get what God promised for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. Only occasion where Jesus speaks of the Spirit in the Synoptic Gospels is in Mark chapter 13. Is it just for Israel or for others? How many people have predicted the end of the world? How many have predicted Christ's return? Never has happened. Prophecies fail, but the people keep going on. We have to renounce this thing of trying to figure out when the end will come. Luke shows no interest in the wives of the apostles or of Jesus brothers. But rather to the women who supported Jesus, he mentions them. Do we not have a right to take along a believing wife?

- King David's Values and Contradictions part 4 - May 20, 2023 - Dr. David Antion
King David was a leader, a true leader, and a uniter. After King David and after Solomon, Solomon inherited David's benefits of a united Israel. Solomon, after Solomon Riaboham split the nation. And you know what? They have never been united again. David was craving and had a craving. Three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water from the well of Bethlehem. But David would not drink it. This is why his men loved him. In First Chronicles 21, the Bible says Satan stood up against Israel and moved David to number Israel. An adversary opposed Israel, inciting David to count how many warriors Israel had. Here's one place where David didn't listen. David: The Eternal sent the pestilence on Israel. David: I am the one who has sinned and done very wickedly. We all tend to minimize our David. He didn't minimize it. There's a person taking full responsibility for his actions. King David said he will not take what is yours for the Eternal or offer a burnt offering that costs me nothing. Let me show you how David repented. In the Psalm of David. Listen to how he repents.

- King David's Values and Contradictions part 3 - May 13, 2023 - Dr. David Antion
Proverb: Evil will not depart from the house of him who returns evil for good. That proverb, I believe, came from David's experience with Uriah. David understood God's purposes. We'll talk about that in a minute. David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife. How does David become a man after God's heart? In Hebrew poetry, praising God for everything. Most people seem to stay the same from thirty to fifty years old. The eternal performs righteous deeds and judgments to all who are oppressed. For every single person. That's one of the great themes of the Old Testament. A lot of people think in the Old testament, God is cruel. But the God of the New Testament is love.

- King David's Values and Contradictions part 2 - May 6, 2023 - Dr. David Antion
Did David actually invade the towns of Israel and kill every man and woman in those towns? Many commentators believe that what David did was to deceive Akesh, his host. So he may have been lying. And he still is a great hero.David is talked to here by Nathan. When you or I do evil in God's sight, we are despising the word of the Eternal. David's anger burned greatly against the man. surely the man who has done this deserves to die.David took Uriah's wife and made her his own. The child also that is born to you shall surely die. How does the Bible treat Bathsheba? She has several titles. The marvel of Solomon.

- King David's Values and Contradictions - April 29, 2023 - Dr. David Antion
King David knew why he was not going to build a temple for God. He killed innocent people in Israel. But he refused to kill Saul, who was trying to kill him. What happened to that value system? David stayed at Jerusalem during the time when the kings go out to battle. That's unusual because David usually led the fight. Although this guy Saul was a kind of a dumb kind of guy, and brutish in his own way. He just couldn't get it. David says he saw a woman bathing from the roof of the king's house. I've always thought Bathsheba, she was the fault. We tend to blame women for everything that goes wrong. Here's some new information I've come across.

- The History of What Happened With The Kings - April 22, 2023 - Dr. David Antion
The book of Joshua and Judges was one scroll. Instead of blessed, it's going to be cursed. All these blessings will come upon you and overwhelm you, if you obey the Eternal. There are no promises of the resurrection. These are all mundane, physical, earthly promises. Samuel was presiding over this group of prophets. The Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul and they also prophesied. His sons, however, did not walk in his ways. Here's one thing you can never do. You can fool some of the people all of the time, but you just can't fool all of them all the time.Samuel warns of the procedure of the King who will reign over them. He warns them all the way up to verse 15 through 18. But the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel and they said, no, but there shall be a king over us.

- How Shall We Escape? - April 15, 2023 - Dr. David Antion
One of the books that was debated about putting into the canon, the line of what were considered the inspired books of the New Testament. Hebrews is passionate about exalting Jesus Christ as the high priest, as the Savior. It offers incredible and unforgettable insights into all the things that have shaped Christianity. And it has strong and important warnings for you and for me. We must pay much closer attention to what we have heard so that we do not drift away from it. Hebrews is telling us we heard it from Christ's apostles. Because of this, it behooves us more abundantly to take heed to the things heard lest we may glide aside.

First question is a rhetorical question, and I hope to answer it as we go through. The question is, what kind of God do we have? What type of God? So I'll let you decide what you want to say. We stayed in a place called Tamar. The name occurs in the Book of Ezekiel. It has water. You don't go to a place there that has no water. These places where you have a spring, like in Getty, you want to camp there. The Romans were determined to kill every Jew and Idomian in Israel. The people ran down to Masada to escape capture. - Contemplating the Importance of Jesus' Resurrection - April 8, 2023 - Dr. David Antion
The resurrection was very controversial during Jesus time. The Sadducees only believed in the first five books of the Old Testament. They should have known there was going to be a resurrection by the very fact that we had a wave sheaf offering. Jesus was the first of the first fruits. Paul says that Jesus appeared to him like one out of time order. He was arrested in Jerusalem and wanted to appeal to Caesar. The most logical place for him to go was to Caesarea Meratima.

- Invisible Struggles - April 6, 2023 - Dr. David Antion
Pastor David reflects on the struggles people face in life and their desire for miraculous solutions. He notes that while miracles were performed in the early days of the church to confirm God's message, God is a hidden God and much of what people ask for is invisible. A passage from Deuteronomy in which Moses reminds the Israelites of the miracles God performed for them in Egypt and the wilderness, but despite this, they still did not trust Him. The message is that although God has done enormous things, it is important to have trust in Him and not rely solely on miraculous solutions to life's struggles.

- What's the Background - April 1, 2023 - Dr. David Antion
In the book of Mark, Jesus was arguing with the Sadducees when a scribe approached him and asked him what the foremost commandment was. Jesus answered that it was to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. The scribe agreed with Jesus and added that these two commandments were greater than all burnt offerings and sacrifices. Jesus commended the scribe and said that he was not far from the kingdom of God. This story illustrates the basic themes of Jesus' teachings, which were centered on the love of God and love for one's fellow man. In Matthew chapter 16, Jesus also emphasized the importance of following him and taking up one's cross to follow him, which was a theme that ran throughout his teachings.

- History of the Passover - March 25, 2023 - Gary Wannlund
Gary Wannlund will discuss the history of Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread, and how their symbolism carries through to the New Testament. They start by reading from Exodus 12 and discussing how the children of Israel ended up in Egypt due to a great famine, and how they stayed there for over 400 years. He compares this to the US being 247 years old and imagines the difficulty of having to move out of a country after generations of living there.

- Eat the Word of Unleaven Bread - March 18, 2023 - Dave Wallauch
The lesson for today is to "Eat the Word of Unleaven Bread", and this is based on a passage from Isaiah chapter 6. The chapter describes Isaiah's vision of God sitting on the throne after the death of King Uzziah. Isaiah sees seraphim, or angels, with six wings, who proclaim the holiness of God. Isaiah realizes his own sinfulness and impurity in the presence of God, but he is cleansed by a coal from the altar. God then asks who will go and speak for him, and Isaiah responds, "Here I am."

This passage discusses God's power and control over the seas, which are described as mysterious and fearful. The dragons and Leviathan mentioned are metaphors for the sea's instability and danger. The ocean is not something to be taken lightly, as it can bring fear and terror to those lost in it. However, God is able to still the waters and bring calm to the storm. The passage also mentions Job's suffering and how he cursed the day of his birth. Despite his struggles, it is important to remember that God is always in control and has the power to bring peace to any situation.

- Jeremiah part 3 - January 14, 2023 - Dr. David Antion
Jeremiah was a prophet who preached about the punishment that would be inflicted on the people for their sins. He spoke of a pit called the "valley of Hinnom," also known as "Gehenna" in the New Testament, where the bodies of the wicked would be thrown and left unburied as a symbol of their punishment. In response to his preaching, Jeremiah was beaten and put in stocks and an iron collar, as described in Jeremiah chapter 20 verse 2 and chapter 29 verses 26 and 27. This punishment was inflicted on him by the authorities in the "house of the eternal." Nowadays, most translations use "Gehenna" instead of "hell."
